THE PERMANENT SECRETARY
Mr. Seno Nyakenyanya, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Co-operative Development and Marketing, a career civil servant with 26 years service to the Government. He is 53 years old and married to Kwamboka with three children, Mosomi, 25, Opande, 24 and Moraa, 14. He was educated at Ichuni Boys Primary School, Keroka, Alliance High School, Kikuyu and the University of Nairobi. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and French and a Diploma in International Relations. He has done courses in Human Resource Management and Development; Leadership, Management and Governance in the Public Sector and Road Sector Management at the Eastern and Southern African Management Institute (ESAMI), Arusha, Australian National University (ANU), Canberra and the Swedish Road Administration, Stockholm, Sweden, respectively. Mr. Seno is a career Civil Servant who has risen from Assistant Secretary III from 1983. He served in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for 16 years (including the Kenya Embassy in Brussels and the Kenya High Commission in London) before transferring his services to other Government Ministries starting with the Ministry of Transport. He moved on to the Attorney General Chambers, the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs and the Ministry of Roads and Public Works. Before being elevated to the post of Permanent Secretary, Mr. Seno was a Senior Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Youth Affairs. His main hobbies are writing, reading, jogging and gardening. |
